Trade Show Season is Here! Where Will You Spot Abbott Rubber Company?

The fall tradeshow season has officially kicked off.  We had a great time exhibiting at recent tradeshows in Minneapolis, MN and Boston, MA.  Next on our agenda are tradeshows in Louisville, KY, and Las Vegas, NV.

Tradeshows are extremely important to Abbott Rubber Company as we love to connect with our potential and current customers while displaying our wide variety of Industrial Hose Products.

The next show we’ll be attending is the Green Industry & Equipment Show (GIE) in Louisville, running from October 23^rd to the 25^th. The show will bring together equipment dealers and distributors, contractors, grounds managers, landscaping and irrigation professionals, engineers, and more. The schedule is packed with events, including a free concert series, and educational sessions for dealers and green industry pros. Also taking place from October 23^rd to the 25^th will be the National Industrial Fastener & Mill Expo in Las Vegas. This is North America’s largest event specifically for this market, and will feature sessions presented by the Fastener Training Institute. We’re looking forward to the many workshops and exhibits this show has to offer. A full schedule of events is available online.

Last but not least, we’ll be attending the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distribution Association (STFDA) convention in Las Vegas from November 11^th to the 13^th. This is STFDA’s 37^th annual convention and will include informational exhibits and helpful workshops for attendees. There will even be an Earth, Wind & Fire concert on the first night. For some companies, staying in the public eye is a main priority. At Abbott Rubber Company, our goal is providing the greatest service to our suppliers and customers. And sometimes, our efforts are rewarded with positive publicity.

Recently, Industrial Supply Magazine profiled our company and the leadership behind our success. Delving into our business operations, they discovered that there’s much more to Abbott than meets the eye. For example, though we don’t prominently list vendors on our website, we are a proud distributor for names such as Goodyear, Parker Hannifin, Tigerflex, and more. Rather than rely on these heavyweights for self promotion, we prefer to keep the focus on our own company and operations.

Another way we separate ourselves from the pack is in the way products enter and leave our facility. While many distributors merely repackage and brand materials from OEMs, we adjust and reconfigure the products themselves. It is based on this model that we consider ourselves a unique blend of manufacturer and distributor. Our on-site machinery is able to handle extreme workloads to provide orders to meet necessary specifications. Products rarely leave our plant in the same condition they arrived.

The article also provided a more in-depth look at Abbott’s leadership. President of the company, Terry Weiner, also serves on NAHAD – The National Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution. His brother, Dennis, is vice president and co-owner of Abbott. Together, the two have forged a one-of-a-kind manufacturing/distribution center to meet all industrial hose needs.

New Hose Safety Institute Handbook Released

In our last blog, we mentioned that safety is one of our top priorities. We’re trained and certified in NAHAD Hose Safety Institute standards. Not only that, but we cooperate with them in order to update standards. That’s why we are extremely excited to tell you that NAHAD has released a new safety handbook (http://www.nahad.org/aws/NAHAD/pt/sp/memservices_hsi).

By partnering with NAHAD, we can collaborate with companies and workers from all over the world. NAHAD’s main purpose is to ensure hose assembly safety, reliability, and quality. At Abbott Rubber, safety is our priority, and now we can help to make sure that other companies are following our lead.  For the last 5 years, Abbott has been on NAHAD’s core team and responsible for updating industry practices across the board.

To start, we will help update and rewrite manufacturing procedures for five different product groups. NAHAD, with our input, will focus on how to make the fabrication process for these products even safer. We will be looking into the individual fabricating procedures for industrial hose, hydraulic hose, flexible metal hose, composite hose, and flouropolymer hose. Our goal is to make sure that industry standards for safety measure up to our own high safety standards.

From a small business, to the largest conglomerate, NAHAD safety rules are the gold standard in the hose industry. At Abbott Rubber, we are proud to be a part of their process. We’re honored to have a hand in setting industry-wide safety standards.
